Men and Sports

So I'm just wondering what is going on with men and sports. I grew up with a father who is a true blue BYU fan but he's never been a yeller. My brother on the other had is quite the shouter and attempts to get in fights at most athletic events-especially when it is between BYU and the Utes. And then there is my darling Casey. He is a somewhat quite man, not outspoken or by any means a shouter but when the TV is on and there is a sports event he becomes a different man. There is loud clapping, shouting at referres and players, occasional semi swear words. And I sit there watching wondering-Do you think they can hear you, if you clap louder do you think they will play better. I mean seriously when was the last time you were watching a "chick flick" and you started clapping loudly when the girl got her knight in shinning armor or shouted at the TV when Dr. McDreamy didn't run after Meridith on Grey's Anatomy. Im just wondering what it is with men and sports and why they act so shall we say "crazy" when there is a sports event on? I don't know the answer but for sure next time Im watching one of "my" shows I'm trying the "reaction" and see if it makes my television experience more exciting!

I'll admit. I have shouted or screamed or jumped off the couch on occasion in my "chic flick" movies. I'm a romantic what can I say.

However, it is NOT near the extreme of how my brothers and my dad act when they are watching a sports game on tv. I agree with you hands down on this one. They are crazy!

This reminds me of the time several years ago when my dad had a bunch of men over to watch a BYU game. They were jumping and shouting so loud the house started shaking and Jaclyn thought there was an earth quake

It's a genetic defect!! I do notice that my men generally aren't nearly as loud when their team is winning as they are when their team is behind. When Davin, (Dustin's son) was only 18 months old, I heard him yelling, "Get in the game, Mostertag", "Do your job Balone" He didn't have the names guite right... but he was dead center on the... uhhh, errr, over enhthusiastic sideline coaching.

Wouldn't it be great if they got that hooked into date nights, shopping for new shoes, a deeply engrossing "relationship talk".... sigh,... if only.

I must admit...when it comes to my crazy TV shows, I can be a bit vocal. (especially when it comes to reality tv and grays and lost) chris just laughs at me. I'm definately not as bad as your brother though...I remember a few times being over at your house during a BYU game...CRAZY!!!!!

It really does make the experience better, and I am sure Casey can't be nearly as bad as Bob.
